1975 Beetle, first car?

I found a VW 1975 Beetle for sale for a good price while I was looking for my first car. I will be getting my license soon and will be needing something to get around town in. I have always wanted this kind of car but I'm wary of getting it as my first. Is there anything I should know about it or be cautious of?
