Any US Presidential Candidate pro Enivironment?

I'm not from the US but I'm a grad student of Gov't. I've noticed that past and present US adminstrations have been very reluctant to support efforts Enivonmental Protectionist Policies (Kyoto Protocol and Polar Bear Act) in fear that limit on carbon dioxide emissons would mean closure of some industries, loss of revenue, then job losses, increased pverty and so on. I'm not familiar on what Mc Cain and Obama ideas on environment protection. I heard Palin on the Tele ranting and raving about US oil exploration so I guess she may have very little to add to environment protection. Someone please enlighten me on these campaigns.
