I just read a news article where Vermont and some Southern States was to secede from the Union....?

I just read a news article where Vermont wants states to join them in seceding from the Union and that there was also an "organization" in the South that wants states to do that too, but both for different reasons. Do they not understand what "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" means? Also if say, Vermont, does secede, do they not realize that all the money flowing into the state from Washington will be gone? What the heck is going on here? Since when do we break and run from our problems? The greatest nation on Earth is being jeopardized by cowards. I don't understand it at all. Not all people agree on all things at once, but geez, seceding? It didn't work before, remember the 1860's? Please, any thoughts?
