Should I ask him to Sadie Hawkins?

Ok so there is this guy I really like. We talk and stuff but not like a ton. I really want to ask him to the sadie hawkins dance but I dont know if he likes me too. He is a basketball player and I am the manager so I see him a lot. My main fear is that I will ask and we will both get crap from the team and it will be really awkward....but he is so cute...also I am not nearly as good looking as him. should I ask him?
